Charles Redd Obituary

Charles Edward Redd died on May 14, 2018. Mr. Redd was born to the late Silas Redd Sr. and Nellie Medley Redd on October 17, 1936. He attended Forest Baptist Church for years. He attended Mission Primary School and high school at Robert R. Moton.

Mr. Redd joined the US Air Force as an enlisted first class airman from 1955-1959. On August 22, 1959 he married Mamie L. Hunt; this union lasted 58 years.

Charles was employed with the Village of Scarsdale, NY sanitation department for 30 years. After retiring he worked for UPS in Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his son Keith C. Redd; sisters Clara Bagley, Verneeda Bascombe, Marjorie Redd, Harriett Archer; brothers Silas Redd Jr., William Redd and Samuel Redd.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory his wife Mamie, sisters Gladys Wiggins, Helena Brooks (Billy) , Earnestine Patterson (Fernell), Nannie Mae Monk. Children: Andrea Redd, Lynette Redd Perry (Darnell), Kevin Redd (Maria), Ladwayna Redd. Grandchildren: Layon Redd, Ranelle Redd, Michael Wilcher, Jessica Redd, Maurice Redd, Lauren Redd, Kevin Redd, Keisha Redd, Jasmine Redd. Great grandchildren: Trinity Ridenhour, Belle Blackwell, McKenzie Blackwell.
