Willie Hurt Jr. was born May 10, 1939 to the late Willie Hurt Sr. and Eva V. Hurt in Nottoway County. As God saw his work completed He called him into eternal rest on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Heritage Hall in Blackstone, VA. He was preceded in death by his sister, Avis H. Branch.
He attended Nottoway County Public Schools and graduated from Luther H. Foster H.S. in 1958 where he participated in many sports. At a early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized. He became a member of Eleven Oaks Baptist Church in Crewe, VA where he served until his health failed.
Mr. Hurt was joined in Holy Matrimony to Pearline S. Hurt in 1972. To this union they were blessed with two sons. He worked as a truck driver in New York and after returning to Virginia, he joined Norfolk and Southern Railroad where he worked for many years. Upon his retirement from the railroad, he became employed with Nottoway County Public Schools as a bus driver.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories his devoted wife Pearline Hurt; two sons: Shawn and Jermain Hurt; three grandchildren: A’Shauna Rogers, Jalia and Jazmyn Hurt; one devoted daughter-in-law, Shontelle Hurt; two sisters, Mary Alice Eggleston (Harvey) and Elizabeth Hurt; three brothers-in-law Roger Branch, Randolph and Bruce Scott; one devoted sister-in-law Beatrice Singleton, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
