Obituary
On Friday, May 20, 2022 our beloved Alice Mae Hughes Hamrick, went to be with our Lord. Alice was born on February 14, 1923 to the late Thomas Edward Hughes and Mary Jeffress Hughes. She worked as a housekeeper in Baltimore, Maryland for many years and attended church regularly with her late husband, Reverend James Hamrick. After returning to Virginia she joined New Witt Baptist Church in Farmville, VA, where she served faithfully until her health began to fail. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her son Joseph Hughes, brothers: George, James, John, Walter, Roosevelt, Shirley and Robert who was raised like a brother; and sister Emma Walton and one great-grand child.
Alice leaves to cherish her memories, one step-son: Albert Hamrick; one sister: Mildred Hughes Thompson; one brother: Jasper Hughes and one daughter in-law: Cornelia Hughes; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
