Andrew Maceo Johnson, Jr. was an educator who made a commitment of over 25 years of service to teaching, mentoring, advising, and coaching students to help them realize their academic goals. Having earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business, he was well prepared and highly committed to teaching business as an adjunct faculty member at Virginia State University (VSU) and the former St. Paul’s College. His teaching was much broader than the delivery of academic content in his classes; he also provided career coaching to help students understand the value of education and how it will assist them with mapping out their career journeys.
Academic advising and financial aid counseling were other leadership and support services provided by Mr. Johnson. At VSU, he served as Assistant Director of Financial Aid, Developer and Coordinator of the Advising Center in the College of Business, and as academic advisor in the University’s Student Success Center at VSU. In each of these positions his service to the students was exemplary. He will always be remembered by his students as a supportive and trustworthy professional who helped them achieve their academic and career goals.
