Anthony Morrison Obituary

Anthony Tobias Morrison affectionately known as Peasy and 10/40 among his friends and family departed this life unexpectedly on July 30, 2020.

Anthony was born in Farmville, Virginia to the Rev. David L. Morrison Sr. and Mrs. Phyllis Ghee Morrison.  He grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina where he attended Raleigh Public Schools (Wake County Public Schools).  He is fondly remembered at Frances Lacy Elementary School, Lucille Hunter Elementary School, Carnage Middle School and William G. Enloe High School.  Being the son of an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church the family relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina and he continued his education at South Mecklenburg High School, later completing his GED with high scores.

Anthony was a unique and special individual. Although we are well aware that he was well known for his mischievous ways Anthony had a way of endearing himself to the many people he interacted with.  It is easy to remember the many members of the churches pastored by his father who selected him out of the four children as their favorite.  He cultivated deep feelings of commitment from his circle of friends as evidenced by the fact that he remained in contact with friends he made as a child and even speaking with some of them shortly before his passing.

During his early childhood years Anthony was a fierce athlete. He was sought after and played on several teams in Raleigh Parks and Recreation.  In baseball he was an ambidextrous pitcher and he loved playing basketball.

Anthony followed in the footsteps of his paternal grandfather and made a career of cooking.  He worked in various fast food and dine in restaurants.  He also followed in the footsteps of his maternal grandfather working in the janitorial field and continued to offer floor refinishing services as a business owner.

Anthony not only inspired commitment but he loved fiercely.  We can say without misgiving that there was nothing that Anthony would not do for you if it was within his power.  He always wanted more for others than he wanted or even achieved for himself.  If Anthony had it and you needed it he gave it to you.

On September 13, 2014 Anthony united in Marriage to Sheletha Johnson.

Anthony never forgot a kindness shown to him and we will deeply feel the loss of his presence, his unconditional love and his smart mouth.

Those left to remember him on this side are his wife Sheletha, two step daughters She-Toneya and Janaana(Derek), his parents Rev. and Mrs. David L. Morrison, Sr. one sister Charmayne, brothers David (Tonya) and Tremayne (Tamela) 2 beloved nephews Matthew and Mon’Querion and two adored nieces Tausha, and Taylor and and one great nephew Tyler, One Aunt Anna Miller and One Uncle Attorney James E. Ghee (Mary).  One god brother Wayman Lyons and a cousin who grew up in the home as a sister Janine Walton.  He was preceded in death by his brother Douglas, grandparents James and Maria Ghee, Sr. and Rev. and Mrs. Douglass Morrison, Sr.  and most recently by his “twin” cousin Joesph Miller.  He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of cousins, in laws and close friends and family who have always held him in love.
