Archard Delander Watkins was born in Chester, Pennsylvania on June 24, 1945 to the late Robert Moses Watkins, Sr. and Morset Redd Watkins. He departed this life on February 3, 2022, concluding a long life of military advocacy and demonstrating the virtues of Christian faith and good humor. Archard was the youngest of 6 children born to the late Robert and Morset Watkins. His siblings included the late Robert Watkins, Jr.; the late Franklin Watkins; the late Lucille Hurt; the late Armer Lee Hurt; and Lorraine Boyd of New Jersey. Archard attended Robert R. Morton High School and later joined the United States Army. He served his country during the Vietnam era from July 21, 1966 to May 19, 1969 and achieved the rank of Specialist E4. Archard was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington and served overseas in South Korea.
Archard continued to serve his fellowman, but at a higher calling. He became an ordained minister and served as the Chaplain for the Disabled American Veterans. Archard was known for his sense of humor and was always able to make light of any dismal situation. He was dependable and was always willing to help those in need.
Archard leaves to cherish his memories; his spouse, Cassandra Redd-Watkins; Daughter, Valeria Watkins of Texas; Son, Tyrone Watkins of Florida; Sister, Lorraine Boyd of New Jersey; 7 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
