Betty Louise Jones was born April 28, 1938 in Buckingham County, Virginia to the late Ruth P. Jones. Betty was affectionately called "Louise" by all her family and friends. Louise was baptized at an early age at New Store Baptist Church.
Louise was educated in the Buckingham County School System until she left Virginia and moved to New York. In 1959 Louise had her only child, Charles Lee Jones. Louise later moved to Philadelphia and was employed as a domestic worker for many years until she retired. Louise moved back to Virginia to help take care of her mother until her passing. Louise stayed in Virginia for a few more years and later returned to Philadelphia with her sister Bernice.
Louise was a plant and tree aficionado. She could quote the name and species of most, her favorite being the African Violet plant. Louise enjoyed Crossword Puzzles; playing Bingo; Home Shopping Network; Publishers Clearing House; Scratch-Offs and keeping her nails groomed and polished. Louise never droved, but her remote control was used in high gear, she loved watching Chicago PD and Law & Order. Louise knew everyone on 13th street, and you could pass by anytime and see her sitting on the porch and checking everything and everybody out before her illness. She was funny and a joy to be around.
Louise leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Charles Lee Jones, Farmville, VA; sisters, Bernice Pankey and Amanda Garlington, both of Philadelphia, PA; brothers, William "Billy" Jones, Chesterfield County, VA; James L. Jones (Kathy) of Appomattox, VA; Henry Pankey (Margaret) of Bronx, NY. A host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces, and nephews. And many cousins near and far. Louise was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Perkins and brothers, Virgil Jones, Donald Jones, and Thomas Jones.
