Bobby Lee Monroe, Sr. was born on July 1, 1943 in Cumberland, Virginia to the late John Wayne Monroe and Lena Holmes of Cumberland, Virginia. On May 7, 2021, Bobby Lee Monroe, Sr. gained his heavenly wings at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital (Lynchburg, Virginia) where he lived with his very special grandson and caregiver Montez Thornton (Karen). Bobby Lee Monroe, Sr. attended Cumberland County Public Schools. At a young age, Bobby Lee Monroe, Sr. was baptized and received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cumberland, Virginia. He was a loyal and faithful member of the Trustee board until his health failed him. Bobby Lee Monroe, Sr. was employed with W.C. Newman Co. and Dick Fleming Auto Shop of Farmville, VA for many years until he found his true passion at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital in Burkeville, VA until his retirement. He also a volunteer delivery for meals on wheels until his health failed. He was always on the go from sun up until sundown.
Bobby Lee Monroe, Sr. was a dedicated father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was always helping out anyone in need. You could always find him outside during something, either working on someone's car or his own. He loved working in his garden and giving anyone the vegetables that he grew. He loved fishing when he could. You could also find him working with his chicken house and gathering the chicken eggs. He truly was an outside person. If you needed your house painted or grass cut, you could count on him.
Bobby Lee Monroe, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents: John and Lena Monroe, Two grandkids: Randall Monroe, Anthony Monroe, Siblings: Edward Monroe, Will Monroe, Sr., Elsie Monroe, Ethel Brown, Elizabeth Brown, Laurine Monroe Green. Bobby Lee Monroe, Sr. will be forever remembered and cherished by a long loving lifetime friend of 33 years, Lillian Rucks (Gabby) of Abilene, VA.
