Carmichael Lee Hurt, affectionately known as Mike, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Mike was the oldest son of William H. Hurt, Jr., and Bertha E. Hurt, who both preceded him in death. Mike was born on April 2, 1944, in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. Mike graduated from Luther H. Foster High School in 1963. Following graduation, he went into the United States Air Force. Upon discharge, he gained employment with Baltimore Gas & Electric, from which he retired in 2002 and returned home to Crewe, Virginia. He devoted over 30 years of marriage to the late Maryellen Daniel and was the proud father to two sons.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mike was preceded in death by sister, Linda.
Mike was baptized at an early age at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Crewe, Virginia, under the leadership of the late Reverend S.C. Fitz, where he remained spiritually connected. While living in Baltimore, Mike was a member of Community Baptist Church in Jessup, Maryland, under the leadership of the late Reverend Robert T. Hurte. Mike served faithfully on the Hurt Ensemble Gospel Choir and the Trustee Ministry. Mike leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Stefon (Otelia) of Richmond, Virginia, and Malik of Baltimore, Maryland; two daughters, Karen Branch-Hughes and Michelle Keeton; five grandsons and three granddaughters; three brothers, Walter (Barbara) of Catonsville, Maryland, Curtis (Alice) of Crewe, Virginia, and Charles (Inge) of Germany; four sisters, Lois (Emmanuel) of Baltimore, Maryland, Novella of Baltimore, Maryland, and Yvette (Joe) of Florence, South Carolina, Irma of Baltimore, Maryland; two aunts, Virginia Keeton of Temple Hills, Maryland and Ella Keeton of Crewe, Virginia. One brother-in-law, Clifton of Moseley, Virginia; a special and loving friend, Theressa Lee; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins, and friends.
