Obituary

Carol Jackson Powell, 94, died August 21, 2023, at her home in N. Chesterfield, VA. Widow of Bruce Lowell Powell. A former bank clerk with National Bank of Commerce and homemaker who lovingly dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She was born in Norfolk, VA, 08/20/1929, daughter of Duval Carlton Jackson and Alice Almyra O’Neill Jackson. Resided in DC, Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Petersburg before settling in N. Chesterfield in 1981. For many years, she was active in church (Christ the King, Norfolk and St. Joseph’s, Petersburg) or wherever needed in her children’s parochial schools. She was also the neighborhood mother to many of her children’s friends.

She is survived by her seven children: Michael, Mary Beth (Richard), Bruce (Teresa), Alison, Brian (Deborah), Jeffrey and Laura (Hubert); twenty-one grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Samuel Jackson of Virginia Beach, Virginia; nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law Claude Mosier (Wichita, Kansas). She was predeceased by her sister Ann Jackson (Provo, Utah) and brother David Jackson (Daytona Beach, Florida).
