Charles Wilbert Jackson, Sr., was born on February 27, 1949, in Prince Edward County to Ola Woodson and the late Benjamin Perkins. Charles accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Rock Baptist Church. He received his formal education at Prince Edward County Public Schools. Shortly after, he joined the job corps for several years. He began working at Hampden-Sydney College as a maintenance technician. Charles later progressed to project manager. He enjoyed playing bingo and fishing. He also had a love for classic cars.
In 1969, Charles met the love of his life and lifelong companion, Catherine. The two were married for 52 years and blessed with four children together. Charles Jackson, Sr., departed his life on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Ashley Giles, a sister, Lola Whitehead and brother, Michael Patterson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Catherine Jackson; mother: Ola Woodson; five children: Gwendolyn McDougald (Anthony), Charles Jackson, Jr., Yoronda Giles, Kimberly Pettaway (Keith) and Tyrone Morton; Grandchildren: Shanice, Asia, Jordan, Brandon, Zya, Deyon, Deja, Aliyah and Noah; One great grandchild: Avah. One brother, Robert Patterson; two sisters: Patricia Williams and Natalie Austin. Three sister in-laws: Queen Webster, Rosa Bedford, Annie Lee (Nathaniel); Two brother in-laws: Stanley Johnson (Angie) and Richard Johnson. And a host of nieces, and nephews
