Charles Harold Nunnally entered into the presence of the lord after a long illness on January 19, 2024, at home in Prince Edward County, Virginia.
Charles was born to the late Wallace and Mabel Nunnally on April 24, 1946, in Rice Virginia. At an early age, he joined High Rock Baptist Church and later became a faithful member of Sulphur Spring Baptist Church where he attended Sunday School regularly and served on the Usher board. Charles graduated from Robert Russa Moton High School in Farmville, Virginia in 1968. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. While in service, Charles was severely wounded. He was awarded a Purple Heart for his courage and sacrifice. In June of 1970, Charles married his High School Sweetheart, Vivian Scott. Shortly after, Charles was honorably discharged from the United States Army. In 1974, he was hired as a campus police officer at Longwood College where he worked for over 27 years.
Charles was an all-around outdoorsman with a passion for gardening and woodcutting. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later on, he developed a passion for landscaping and lawn care. Charles was predeceased by his parents Wallace and Mabel Nunnally; Father-in-law Robert Scott; Mother-in-law Louise Scott; Brothers Vance and Robert Nunnally; Sisters-in-law Priscella Scott and Mattie “Marie” Nunnally; Brother-in-law Vincent Early; Grandchildren Brandon and Jaccinta Nunnally.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Vivian Nunnally; sons Sharrod (Peggy) and Darryl Nunnally; Grandchildren Ahmaud and Karma Hicks; Brothers Roy and Melvin Nunnally; Sister Shirley Early; Sisters-in -law Annie Nunnally, Mary Nunnally, Lydia Withers, and Faye Johnson; Brothers-in-law Garfield Withers and George Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
