Charlotte Beatrice Johnson, daughter of Sallie Trent Johnson and Daniel Johnson, Jr., was born on May 11, 1924, in Cumberland, Virginia. She was sister to Bertha, Clara, Daisy, Eva, George, Herman, Martha, Douglas, Edith, Viola, and Sarah. She departed from this life on December 29, 2024, in Farmville Health and Rehabilitation Center, Farmville, Virginia.
After graduating from high school, she relocated to New York City. She worked as an office associate for the City of New York Department of Housing Preservation in the Department of Rent Policy and Regulations. She retired from the City of New York on March 16, 1990.
While living in New York, she attended the Mount Olivet Baptist Church in New York, New York; however, her membership remained with the Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Cumberland, Virginia.
Charlotte was soft-spoken and gentle with a kind spirit. She gave monetary donations to children, college students, and family members throughout her life. She was always willing to help family members in need. She will be missed but fondly remembered for her generosity.
Left to cherish her memory are her great niece and goddaughter, Carolyn Waddy; nieces: Marion Taylor, Grace Ferrell, Ada Askew, and Mary Johnson; nephews: Earl Dickerson, Robert Johnson (Jesse), Herman Johnson (Barbara), and Stanley Johnson; great nieces, Diane Shaw (Joe), Marjorie Harney (Jessie), Sandra Gordon (Johnny), Bertha Walker (Robert), Jill Bargonetti-Chavaria (Nicholas), Allison Ferrell, and Marva; great nephews, Steve Bargonetti (Diane), Kevin Sledge (Ivy) and Gaylord Sledge (Michelle); sister-in-law, Lottie Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
