Claude Carrington, oldest son of the Late Deacon Roy Lee and Otelia Johnson Carrington departed this life peacefully on January 29, 2020. Claude was born on November 21st and has now become the 5th broken link in the chain of 11 children. His parents, sister, Theresa Carrington Watkins and 3 brothers Anthony Roy Lee and James Carrington preceded him in death.
Claude accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Mount Ellis Baptist Church in Keysville, VA where he was active for many years. Claude received his formal education from Bluestone Harmony Institute in Keysville, VA and from Central High School in Charlotte Court House, VA. In later years, Claude moved to Philadelphia PA and joined Beulah Baptist Church where he served in several ministries including the Men's Chorus and the Van Ministry.
Claude was employed by the Philadelphia School System as a transportation operator until his retirement. He enjoyed his job working with children.
Claude leaves to cherish his memory:4 sisters. He also leaves 2 brothers, a granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Claude was a well-liked person who always greeted you with a big smile. If he knew you well enough, he might even tell you one of his mind-provoking riddles to get your "Mind working." He will be missed by his family, but he is now happy in Heaven.
