Curtis James Obituary

Curtis Arciol James of Cumberland, VA passed away on Monday September 12, 2022 after a long hard fought illness.

Curtis was born on March 21, 1956 to Louise and Curtis James in Cumberland, VA.  Curtis graduated from Cumberland High School in 1975.  After graduating, he started working for the Virginia Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer kick-starting a 30 plus year career in the Criminal Justice field.

In 2006, Curtis retired and spent his time fishing and hunting which were always centered around great friends, fun and family.  He loved laughing, joking, cooking, watching football and basketball, gardening, talking and spending quality time with family and friends, visiting neighbors and always helping any and everyone who needed it.  He loved gospel music especially quartet gospel music like The Rance Allen Group,  The Jackson Southernaires, and The Canton Spirituals.  Curtis was affectionately given the nick name "Boo-Boo" by his dear aunt Ineatha when he was a little boy.  That name has followed him into adulthood.  Whenever people were introduced to him they were always met with a big welcoming smile and the words "You can call me "Boo Boo".  He has shaped and sewn into so many lives with his wisdom, wit and down to earth truth and love.  Uncle Boo will be sorely missed!  Curtis was predeceased by his parents; Louse and Curtis W. James, Sister; Carolyn Elaine James Green, brother in laws; Aaron Green Sr. and Henry Howard WIlliams, Daughter; Little Ashley Nicol James.

He leaves to cherish fond memories; Dearly Devoted; Dianne Monroe, only son; Antwan Monroe(April Wiley), Grandchildren; Precious and Elijah, Devoted Daughter from Love; Yshicia Hopkins, Grandchildren from love; Damouray, Jada and Jahiem, Devoted Sister; Mozella Williams (Gable Trent), Dear Brothers; Roger James (Mary O.
