David J Townsend

David T. Townsend, son of the late Harry and Mary Jane Brooks Townsend was born in Drakes Branch, VA on December 3, 1961.  David joined Midway Baptist Church at an early age, he attended Cumberland School in Cumberland, VA.  After his mother's death, David and his 2 siblings moved to New Jersey.  He was employed at The Turnpike Store in New Jersey.  He met and married his wife, Tonya Townsend.  Later in life he moved back to Virginia and joined Concord Baptist Church in Farmville, VA where his membership remained.  David loved driving people around, watching TV and attending church.  He always greeted you with a smile on his faced.  For the past 5 years his health began to fail.  he departed this life on March 9, 2020 at Centra Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, VA.  He was proceeded in death by his parents and his wife.  He leaves to cherish 3 sons, David Jr, Mark and Franklin Townsend of Pennsgrove, New Jersey.  1 brother, Howard Townsend  (Lisa) of Atlantic City, New Jersey.  1 sister, Elnora Townsend of Farmville, VA, 6 grandchildren, 2 nieces, Alyana & Ivy Townsend of Atlantic City, New Jersey, 3 nephews, Vackery Townsend of Pennsgrove, New Jersey, Kenyer & Tyus  of Atlantic City, New Jersey, 1 great nephew, Trey Townsend of Atlantic city New Jersey 4 aunts ,  Elizabeth Randolph (junior) of Farmville VA, Gloria Boose of Pennsgrove NJ, Shilrley Lee of Chesterfield, VA, Pauline Townsend of Drakes Branch, VA 2 devoted friends, Sarah Anderson of Farmville, VA, Lucy Langhorne of Farmville, VA, Romanda Langhorne, whom he took as his daughter, and a host of cousins and friends.
