Douglas Alonzo Penn departed this life on August 18, 2022, just 9 days shy of his 70th birthday. He was the youngest child of Benjamin and Ethelena Penn, Sr.. He was educated in the Nottoway County school system. He was an auto mechanic by trade. He left Virginia and moved to New Jersey where at the age of 19 he met and married Mae in 1971.
Some of his favorite hobbies were playing pool, fixing cars, listening to music and playing the guitar. At any time of the day you would be able to find him somewhere listening to his favorite artists or enjoying his love of playing pool in the pool rooms which eventually changed to playing digitally along with solitaire on his cell phone. Douglas' love for repairing cars continued until his health no longer permitted him .
He is preceded in death by his parents, 6 siblings; William Penn, Deloris Anderson, Doris Sydnor, Benjamin Penn Jr., Willa Jackson and Charles Penn and his son Douglas Alonzo Matthew Penn. His legacy will live on through his survivors; his wife, children; Roxanne Boyce, Rochelle Penn Octavia (Dwayne) Pierce, Nancy (Kariga) Pratt, and Debra Thomas along with 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory ; his sister Roxie Woodrum, brother-in-law Matthew Jackson, a special friend who is more like a son, Terry and a host of relatives and friends.
