Dr. Festus Ugboaja Ohaegbulam was born in Umuegwu, Nriukwu Imo State Nigeria. There was no official registration of his birthday, by his eldest brother's oral account, he was born in 1929. He departed this life on August 5, 2022 peacefully in his home in Temple Terrace, FL. He was one of five children born to the union of the late Onwere Ikoro and Martha Nwanyidiya Adiele Ewe Ohaegbulam. He was introduced to the Evangelical Christian Church at a young age, where he participated in Sunday School studies. This is where he learned to read and write. He went on to graduate high school from Baptist High School in Port Harcourt, East Nigeria. In 1960 he immigrated to the United States to further his education at Evangel University, Springfield Missouri receiving a B.A. in English and History. He continued graduate education at Fordham University receiving an M.A. in History; and received a Ph.D in International Relations from The University of Denver. In 1968, he was he was united in Holy Matrimony to his sweetheart, Emma Bernice Bolden. To that union 2 children were born. F. Ohaegbulam accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Savior at an early age. He experienced many challenges and uncertainties from early childhood but learned from his experiences. He was a devout Chtistian husband, father and friend. He was a member of Riverhill Church of God where he served on the board of Elders. His service to the Lord included giving freely to others serving in ministry, teaching Sunday School, and serving on the prayer ministry. F. Ugboaja Ohaegbulam was the Professor Emeritus at the University of South Florida where he taught from 1972 until his retirement in 2004. He is widely published in professional journals has contributed chapters to and authored several books and appeared as guest lecturer and panel on countless mediums.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Emma Bolden Ohaegbulam two children Emeka and Adanna daughter in law Debbie 3 grandchildren Elijah Alyssa and Amelia; and a host of nieces nephews cousins and friends all over the word.
