Fred Brown Obituary

On Sunday November 29, 2020 Fred Brown departed this life, after 94 years at his home in Rice Virginia.  He was born on March 23rd to the late Elijah Brown Sr. and Jenny Thomas Brown.  He grew up in Buckingham VA.  Fred was also preceded in death by his wife, Sally Brown; two sons, Fred Brown Jr., "June" and James Melvin Brown and two daughters; Florence Brown and Brenda Harvey.  Fred has one sibling, Thomas Brown who lives in Baltimore, MD.  His other siblings, brothers; Cary "Cay" Brown, Elijah Brown, Will Brown and sisters; Loucinda Staton, Gladys Layton and Elizabeth Wooden preceded him in death as well.  In recent years, he also lost his companion, Lorean Harvey.  As a result of their union he was step-father to six children who preceded him in death; Ernest Harvey, Barbara Ann Monroe, William "Bill" Harvey, Frank Harvey, Vivian Harvey and Lynwood Harvey.  Fred accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Mount Nebo Baptist church in Dillwyn, VA.  Fred left home in his teens to pursue a living of his own.  He was a hard worker.  For a large potion of his life, he worked cutting wood and farming.  He raised his own hogs and vegetable garden.  Fred loved spending time with his family and friends.  His hobbies included fishing in the river and hunting rabbit.  He enjoyed having a good time and celebrating with family.  He had a special bond with his nephew Franklin Brown Sr., who preceded him in death.  Fred lived a good life.  He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally.  Fred leaves to cherish many who love him.  Father to eleven; Joseph Brown (Dorothy-Deceased), Mary Trent (Melvin), Willie Leon "Lee" Brown, Adeline Brown (Willie Frank), Linda Morton (Paul), Solomon Lewis Brown (Cynthia), Jerome Harvey (Rita), Carl Brown Rice Sr., Daniel Harvey (Rosalin), Matthew Harvey (Elaine), and Sheila Patterson (Eugene).   Step-father to three; James Harvey, Lavern Epps, and Leroy Harvey.  He leaves a hos of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
