Fred Harris Seagraves Sr.

Fred H. Seagraves, Sr. (82) turned out his final stage lights on November 22, 2023, departing this life at MedStar Washington Hospital. Fred was born on October 15 in Brooklyn, NY, and was raised in Philadelphia, PA.  He is the son of the late Thomasina Lewis (Southern Pines, NC) and Fred Douglas Seagraves (Aberdeen, NC). He graduated from West Philadelphia High School before attending the Pennsylvania Academy for the Arts. After college, Fred moved to New York City where he began his long career in the theater and movie industry. Fred worked with and met many people while working on many Broadway shows, in California with Peter Fonda and touring Europe with the Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre.

Through his years, Fred made many friends with his boisterous and gleeful laugh, sharp humor, and zest for the good times. Fred is survived by his wife, Eunice Lewis of Crewe, VA,  his daughter Brianna, and his son Fred, Jr., along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues.
