James Arness Foster, son of the late Brenda Lee Foster was born on March 21, 1976 in Albemarle, County. He attended Cumberland County Public Schools in Cumberland, VA.
James was affectionately known for his witty personality and his big contagious smile. He loved people and they loved him as well. He was a gentle kind heart- ed person. He was know by his family and friends as Nessie, Big Jake and Big James. He loved his family, fishing, hunting and music. James held various jobs, Covance (15 yrs.), Schewels (9 yrs.) and Rice Fire Dept (9 yrs.). He also loved his hunting Club Piney Grove (Friends). On May 24, 1997 he married his soul mate Della Knight where they shared 25 years of marriage together. He loved his wife as much as she loved him and their family. James loved his little dog “Rex.” James had so many devoted friends he could count on, for to know him was to love him. James joined the Petersville Baptist Church in New Canton, VA and later moved his membership to New Bethel Baptist Church in Meherrin, VA. James was preceded in death by his parents and brother Alfred Foster and grandparents.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his devoted wife Della and children, Lakesha and Quashon (Courtney). 6 grandchildren: Aiden, Kayla, Khloe, Zoey, Mariah, & Amari; Mother-in-law: Edith (Joe) Taylor; Sister-in-law: Car- olyn (Michael) Swann; Brother-in-laws: Douglas (Crystal) Knight, Robert (Patricia) Knight, Ronald (Patricia) Bowen, Robin (Elaine) Bowen; Step Fa- ther: Edward Langhorne; Siblings: Al- freda (David) Marty; Sister-in-law: Pe- trina Foster, Shantell Foster & Tra’nell Foster; Nieces: Shaleka, Shania S., Daneishia, Shaniya F., Saaphyri, Shav- era, Shakia, Ja’mesha, Dashawna, Lashawna & Shannon; Nephews: Sha- hiem, Zan, Jayden, Jeremey, Israel, & Raz; Great Nephews: Keon, Aveyon, Tay, Gabriel, DeKari, DeAndre & Eli; Great Nieces: Ava & Amaya; Aunt: Odessa Knight, Sharon Johnson, Tere- sa (Wayne) Booker, Senata (Eddie) Hol- man; Great Uncle: Robert Clayborne; Great Aunt: Valeria (Lekan) Adewuy and many devoted friends and cousins who loved him dearly.
