James Watson Obituary

James Alexander "Cheetah" Watson was called to Heaven on January 17, 2022. James was born on December 10, 1933 in Keysville, VA to the late James Edward and Lottie Mae Watson. James started going to school at an early age and was sent home for not being old enough. Persistently, James kept returning until they allowed him to stay. As a young man, James received a degree in horticulture and later moved to New York City at the age of 16. James was immediately sent home by his older sister Lucy for not being old enough. After turning 18, James returned up North and studied radio and television repair. In his early 20's, he started his own floor waxing service. Later in his 30's, he started driving trucks and retired 33+ years later and started working for the New Jersey Turnpike where he remained until his retirement in 2010.

James leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years, Shirley Watson. He was preceded in death by his four siblings Louis, Junius, Mildred and Baby Watson. He leaves behind two siblings, Lucy Mae White and Rufus (Louise) Watson. James had 5 children, Drew Watson who preceded him in death 2 months earlier. Balerie Cald, Kendrick (Stacey) Watson, Amenzio (Tyvoria) Watson, and Eunice Moses. James had 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, dear friend and a devoted cat "Buttons" that he leaves to cherish his memory.
