“Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you,” ~ John 16:22 NKJV
Mr. John Henry Miller went to be with our heavenly father on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, VA. He also resided at the Holly Manor Nursing Facility in Farmville, VA for the last 8 years. John was the son of the late Anderson Miller and Sara Redd Miller of Rice, VA, and he was married to the late Ida Mae Miller of Farmville, VA.
John was baptized at an early age at the Calvary Baptist Church in Burkeville, VA and remained a member until his health began to fail. John was a hard worker and in his younger years he worked hard in farming and tobacco to help provide for his family. In his lifetime he worked for the Town of Farmville, Buffalo Shook, and Glenbolt Sawmill in Rice. John was a friendly and kind gentleman to all that knew him and will be greatly missed. He loved cars and talking about the weather in which he earned his nickname “The Weatherman,” at Holly Manor.
John was preceded in death by 5 siblings: Ms. Annie Mae Grant, Ms. Mary Hamlin, Mrs. Ruby (Francis) Jackson, Mrs. Corine Staton, and Mr. Anderson (Lindwood) Miller.
John leaves to cherish his memories: Mrs. Pearl Miller Bailey (Herbert) of Rice, VA; Mrs. Sara Lee Clark of Green Bay, VA; and Mrs. Martha Davis of Paterson, New Jersey; 2 devoted caretakers his niece, Ms. Amanda Bailey-Lee of Farmville, VA and Mr. Paul Miller (Diane) of Burkeville, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
