Kenneth Shuler was born on May 18th, in Darlington County, South Carolina to the late Melrose Sweeney and Elisha Shuler. He departed this life on June 16, 2020 at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia He joined Mt. Zion 2nd Baptist Church, where he remained an active, devoted member and trustee until his death. Kenneth served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. Kenneth attended school in South Carolina and later went on to graduate from Washington Technical Institute with an Associates of Applied Science in Accounting. Kenneth was employed by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority as a Utility Supervisor until his retirement. On June 2, 1976, Kenneth married Phyllis Hicks, of Rice, Virginia. This union in marraige was blessed with one son. Kenneth was an extremely gifted musician that offered and served many churches throughout Virginia. He served as the muscian for Calvary Baptist Church until his passing. Kenneth is preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Phyllis Shuler; his mother and father, Melrose Sweeney and Elisha Shuler; three sisters, Lorretta Shuler Johnson, Maria Shuler Greene, Ernestine McGiver Davis; and three brothers, Lawrence McGiver, James Shuler, Timothy Shuler. Kenneth leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Derek Shuler (Vertina) and Anthony Shuler; one daughter, Tonia Shuler; one step-daughter, Tina Booker; seven grandchilden, Ashley Shuler, Ricky Shuler, Amber Shuler, Jesseca White, Kayla Shuler, Jarmal Joyner Jr., and Richelle Booker; one sister, Deborah Shuler; one brother, Elijiah Shuler; and many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
