Linda Ward Obituary

Today we celebrate the beautiful life of Linda Ward, born to the late Burnell and Sallie Ward of Farmville, VA.  After battling with many illnesses, she peacefully departed this life on March 4, 2020 at the VCU Medical Center.  At an early age, Linda was baptized and attended the Old Race Street Baptist Church, as well as continued to send her children to Sunday School.  She attended and graduated from Prince Edward County Public School in 1973.  Soon after, she obtained her Associates degree in Liberal Arts from Lynchburg College.  Until her death, she continued to pursue educational goals and staying close to the word.  Linda was a laborer of LOVE, while maintaining an assortment of positions throughout her life.  Some of her employment, but not all were; secretary for the US Army Recruiting Office, machinist at Carbone of America, seamstress at STEPS, and laundry worker at Trinity Mission.  She worked  in her community being a mother to her children and many others, running errands for elderly, cooking for family and friends, counselling anyone who needed counsel and her famous press and curl.  She was driven by the joy for her family friend and others to serve in her ways.

Linda enjoyed life the length and the width.  She enjoyed hosting feasts for friends and family shipping surfing the web talking on the phone to those near and far, car rides, visiting, and being of assistance to others.  Her children and granchildren have gained many valuable life lessons from her walk her on earth: the importance of giving unconditional love and walking in truth.

She is proceeded in death by her daughter Latanya Ward, 1 brother Curtis Ward, 2 sisters Dorothy Watkins and Mary Louise Holman, and 1 niece Tavisha Braxter.  Linda leaves to cherish her memories; her mother, Sallie Ward of Farmville VA, her children: Kanikia Ward Midlothian VA and Willie Ward of Petersburg VA, with Willie G. Miller; 4 brothers Burnell Ross of Baltimore MD, Wilbert Ward of Farmville VA Michael Ward (Diane) of Cumberland VA, Mordecai Ward (Laverne) of Richmond VA, 4 grandchildren; James, Josiah, Ameirria and Ameir, a very special friend; Reginald Wheeler, a very special nephew: Michael Carter and a host of loving relatives and friends.
