Obituary

Lovell Richard Panniel Jr. passed away Monday January 11, 2021 in Long Beach Ca. Mr. Panniel was born July 25, 1947 to Lovell R. Panniel Sr. and Beulah Baker of Virginia. He was a 1967 graduate of San Diego City Schools.  Mr. Panniel went on to serve our country’s military with three tours in the Vietnam War, receiving one Silver Star and two Bronze Stars for his tremendous acts of bravery.  From there he became a Chief Engineer with the Merchant Marines and traveled to several countries. During his career and after retirement Mr. Panniel also obtained several certificates, degrees, and licenses. He is preceded in death by both parents. To honor his life and memory Mr. Panniel leaves behind two sons, Maurice Panniel (Antoinette) of Richmond Va, and Michael Panniel (Kelly) of Farmville Va, Seven grandchildren, Aaliyah, Christopher, Karon, Messiah, Nia, Raven, and Shauna, and two great granddaughters. He is also survived by two siblings, Barbra Pablos and David Baker, four nieces and nephews, Andrea, Marco, Joel, and Jordan, and one aunt Claire Marshall. He also leaves behind several friends and loved ones that will cherish his memory.
