Margaret Elizabeth Eanes Reed-Johnson

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Eanes Reed-Johnson, daughter of the late James “Taylor” Eanes and Rosa Gertrude Richard Eanes was born April 4, 1933 in Prince Edward County. She was the first born of 21 children.

She joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church, Farmville, Virginia and served on several auxiliaries.

She received her education from the public schools of Prince Edward County. She received her High School Diploma at the Virginia Theological Seminary and College, Lynchburg, Virginia. She received her certification as a Home Health Aide where she cared for several patients. She was a volunteer for several years at the Southside Community Hospital (Centra). She was a faithful member of the Order of the Eastern Star PHA for over 50 years where she held the position as Worthy Matron. 

She was united in holy matrimony to Rev. Dr. Ernest W. Reed who proceeded her in death and from this union eight children were born. She was united in holy matrimony to her second husband, Rev. Dr. Paul Johnson, Emeritus of Roanoke, Va. 

She enjoyed various activities which included traveling, sewing, cooking, making candy, being a girl scout leader, and of course making her famous homemade ice cream that was enjoyed by all. Having pets was another aspect in her life that brought her joy.

She leaves memories cherished by her husband Rev. Dr. Paul Johnson, Emeritus of Roanoke, Va., children Ernest Reed Jr., of Philadelphia, Pa., Shelia A. Smith of Baltimore, Md., Cynthia R. Walker, David Reed, Joan R. Fore, Meta R. Trent of Farmville, Va., Joseph Reed of Beverly Hills, Fla, Taylor Reed of  Huachuca City, Az., and proceeded in death Jerome Reed; daughters-in-law Wendy Reed of Beverly Hills, Fla., Karina Reed of Huachuca City, Az. and proceeded in death Gail Reed; sons-in-law Pastor Jerimiah Fore and Pastor Samuel Trent; stepchildren Paula J. Thomas of Harrisburg, Pa., Paulis E. Johnson of Richmond, Va., Frank S. Johnson, Lesley H. Johnson of Roanoke, Va., step-daughters-in-law Zipora Johnson of Richmond, Va., and Lynn Johnson of Roanoke, Va.; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
