ODESSA STOKES HASKINS was born in Prince Edward County on April 19, 1933 to the late James Agnes and Lillie Stokes. Odessa the ninth child of eleven; Five girls and six boys. Nine preceded her in death. In her early adulthood she met and married the late Charlie Haskins, to this union eleven children were born. She departed this life on February 19, 2023 at her home. She received her formal education at R. R. Moton High School. She accepted Christ early in life and was baptized at High Rock Baptist Church. She was an active member until her health began
to fail. Odessa was a prayer warrior at home and at church. She served as a missionary in various nursing homes and joined others programs that assisted others. Odessa loved to cook. She was always ready to cook for events in the community or for families in need. Family and friends were always coming by for her fried chicken and rice pudding. Odessa held several jobs during the course of her life and retired from Burkeville Verneer Plant because of illness.

deceased daughters: Delphine Ruby Dove and Penny Gay Haskins. Two sons: Charlie Haskins, Jr. (Carolyn) of Prospect; Douglas Haskins (Karen, deceased) of Richmond, VA; one step-son, Ernest Lee Clark Haskins (deceased) of Long Branch, New Jersey. Sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and one Great-great grand; One sister, MaeElla Woodrum of Boston, Massachusetts; One sister in-law: Florene Haskins, Rice, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
