Pleasant V. Green, Sr.

Pleasant Vincent Green, Jr., also known as "Jaboo," was born on December 3, 1933, and departed this life on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the age of 88. Pleasant was born in Amelia County, VA, to the late Leroy and Lavinia (Marshall) Green. He attended the Luther H. Foster High School in Nottoway County, VA. He later worked as a mechanic for Bradshaw's Auto Shop in Burkeville, VA, where he met his beloved wife Kate Green, and they joined in wedlock on May 18, 1957. 

Pleasant later relocated to New York and attended various training programs to learn how to become a mechanic. In the 1960's he worked in his brother-in-law's auto shop. He also attended training classes to become a certified transmission mechanic while working for Ford Motors in White Plains, NY. From the 1970s through the 1980s, he worked and retired from Lee Myles Transmissions.  Even after retirement, he continued working on vehicles. He was so proficient in fixing cars; he could just listen (over the phone or in person) to the car engine for a moment and then he will detect the problem and fix it. If you imitated the sound, he could give you a list of things that could be wrong with the car. He was everyone's go-to person with car problems and so many other things. During his life, Pleasant lived up to his name; he was an easy-going, inspiring, and soft-spoken individual who loved working with his hands. 

He leaves to cherish his memory; his children: Nancy Ann Beverly-Carter of Fayetteville, GA, Pleasant Vincent Green, Jr. (Mercedes) of Flowery Branch, GA, Yolanda James (Alex) of Blythewood, SC, Florence Green-Zelaya (Luis) of New Windsor, NY, Randy Green (Pamela) of New Windsor, NY, Rita Green-Tyndale (Lawrence) of Waterbury, CT, and Lisa Green of Bronx, NY. He also leaves behind his beloved sister, Florence Greene of Baltimore, Maryland, and his nieces Sandra Greene-Davis, Gail Greene-Bass, Adrian Greene, Cheryl Green, Robert Green and nephew, Herbert Greene Jr. In addition to his children and nieces, Pleasant leaves behind his devoted grandchildren: Tina Zelaya, Melissa Zelaya, Latasha James, Alex James Jr., Randy James, Jamal "Chico" James, Jah-King Corey James, Skye Green, Autumn Green, Lawrence Tyndale, Jr., Ericka Brown, Reta Reed, Paulette Saunders, Angela Saunders and Cassandra Saunders; Great grandchildren: Reginald Gaston, Moises Prado, Morgan Prado, Kayla Brooke Zelaya, Karter Baker, Jayvion Clarke, Journey Crystal Scott, Gabrielle "Gabby" Scott, Jayden Brown, London James, Logan James, Lalah James, Gavin James, Eleana Johnson, Alex Gooden, Joseph Jr., Rakeem Davon, Dashawn Raheem, Ja'Quan Donta, Chikirya Saunders, TyVon Saunders, Omarion Allen, Keshawn Saunders, Charles Carter, Kenyatta Carter, Devin Allen, Great-Great-Grandchildren: Khalil Saunders, Demaryis Ramsey, Zion Tai-heim Watkins, Jakirah Saunders and Cameron Saunders, Ja Kobi Saunders, Alani Prado and a host of nieces and nephews. Pleasant was predeceased by his beloved wife, Katie as well as his parents Leroy and Lavinia Green, siblings Elizabeth, William and Marshall.
