Robert B. Jackson, Sr.

Robert Benjamin Jackson was born on August 12, 1932, in Cumberland County, Virginia, to the late Robert Lee Jackson and Ellen Taylor Jackson. He departed this life on March 27, 2026.

At an early age, he was baptized in Cumberland County and carried his faith with him throughout his life. On July 5, 1951, he married the love of his life, Doreatha Miller Jackson, and together they built a strong and loving family.

Robert was the founder of RB Jackson Pulpwood Company in Nottoway County, Virginia, a respected and long-standing business in the local forestry industry. He was also a devoted member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee, deacon, Chairman of the Deacon Board, and Deacon Emeritus.

He became a Mason in April 1958 as a member of Randolph Lodge No. 30 and remained a dedicated member for 68 years, earning recognition as an Honorary Lifetime Member.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Doreatha Miller Jackson; his parents, Robert and Ellen Jackson; his sisters, Christine Stokes Oliver and Harriet Parker; his brothers, James Melvin Jackson and Simuel Jackson; his sons, Benjamin Jackson, Jerry Jackson, and Robert Jackson; his daughter, Sheila Watkins; and his son-in-law, Pastor Lee Watkins, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Saundra Jackson Smith (James H. Smith, Jr.); his sons, Thomas Reed, Jr. (Brenda Reed) and Jerry Hurt; his sister, Vivian Jackson Clark (George Clark); 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
