Russell Tyrone Fitzgerald was the only child born to the late Russell and Anita Fitzgerald on September 1, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland. Affectionately called “Ty”, he accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at age six. He served as a junior usher at the Central Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Ty graduated from the renowned Baltimore City College High School in Baltimore, Maryland in 1973. After graduating, he enrolled in the Community College of Baltimore City.
Ty later enlisted into the United States Armed forces in 1974. While in the service he met and married Judith E. Perry who proceeded him in death. From this union came two sons; Kevin Tyrone Fitzgerald and James Russell Fitzgerald. Tyrone also adopted Angela L. Perry Fitzgerald. After serving 12 years and 9 months in the military, he received an honorable discharge and settled in the state of California. Ty received an Associates degree in Electronics in Salinas, California in 1994. He was employed with Land Resources Company for some years before he decided to relocate to Virginia where his father was residing. He worked for Walmart Distribution Center where he retired after 15 years of service.
Ty, realizing the importance of his spiritual growth, joined the New Bethel Baptist Church in Crewe, Virginia. His favorite past times included playing Pinochle and Domino’s. He was a dedicated Green Bay Packers fan. From a young age, he had a love and a passion for dogs, and he adored his dogs; Snowball, Susie and the late Snook. He loved attending cookouts and family reunions. He truly loved planning and setting up for his own family reunion. Ty knew everybody and everybody knew him. He had a sense of humor that kept everybody laughing.
Ty is survived by his daughter, Angela, sons Kevin and James; sister-in law, Carolyn Perry; grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted cousin, Lillie Rhoades; several loving cousins in Baltimore, Maryland, devoted and supportive friends, Mary JoAnn Fowlkes and Larry Brown; longtime caring neighbors the Jennings and the Oliver’s; and a host of other family and friends too numerous to name. They will truly cherish their memories of him.
