Saundra Turner Carter departed this life on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Centra Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, VA. She was born on August 13, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland to Frances Louise Dennis and the Late James Turner. She was educated in the county schools in Maryland and graduated from Paul Lawrence High School in Baltimore, MD. Saundra accepted Christ at an early age and joined Heritage Baptist Church where she became a faithful member. She was united in marriage to Carl Carter who preceded her in death. Saundra enjoyed life as a mother. She will truly be missed by her family. She enjoyed cooking but her passion was in sewing. She spent a lot of time also with her golden retriever, Wizard.
Saundra was employed by Maryland Social Security Agency as a security officer. Later, when she moved to Virginia, she accepted employment as a correctional officer at Dillwyn Correctional Center where she retired. She was a loving and caring person and free hearted.
She was preceded in death by her father, and brother, James Turner. She leaves to cherish her memories; son, Byron Brooks and mother, Frances Louise Dennis, both of Baltimore, Maryland. Two brothers, Michael Turner and Perry Hopkins, a devoted friend and caretaker, Diane Barksdale and family and friends.
