Anna Belle Booker was born in Farmville, Virginia to the late Herbert Booker and Ethel Lee Booker on April 17, 1950. She was the 5th child of the family. She was proceeded in death by her parents, 3 sisters; one died at birth, later Mary, Rebecca and 1 brother; Bishop Herman Booker. Anna later legally changed her name to Victoria Liyena Booker. She attended Mary E Branch Elementary School with Mrs. Herdon, being one of her favorite teachers until the closing of the schools in 1959. This caused much pain and hurt to Victoria and she often cried. She remained in Prince Edward County until the schools were re-opened and she completed the 10th grade. Later she attended Community College in Keysville, VA; then onto a skill center in Crewe, VA. There she obtained a nursing certificate to care for others during the week and returned home on the weekends.
Victoria's restlessness took her to Patterson, NJ where she received an Advance Nursing Certificate and started working at St. Joseph Hospital in Patterson. Victoria's other jobs included the Stack Pole, Craddock Terry Shoe Factory, Southside Community Hospital, McDonalds in Baltimore, MD and a factory worker in New York City. Victoria also received certificates in Adult CPR and Basic First Aide. Her love for caring for people was evident in all she did. Victoria often spoke of and regretted she was not able to pursue her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. Victoria received several different certificates over her lifetime of learning.
Before relocating to Baltimore, Victoria was a member of Race Street Baptist Church (Now Jericho Baptist). Once in Baltimore she joined Faith Baptist Church. Victoria leaves to mourn her death; her husband James Carter, an aunt; Cora Thornton, a Goddaughter and a host of cousins and friends.
