His Story................
On Monday, July 24, 2023, Wallace Eugene Townsend fondly known as Bro. T, departed this life in the comfort of his home in North Chesterfield, and entered his eternal life in glory. Wallace was born on May 17, 1949 to the late Earl and Dorothy Townsend in Meherrin, VA. Wallace was the first born of nine beautiful children. He was raised in a Christian home, and at an early age Wallace accepted Christ and was baptized at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Meherrin, VA. Wallace was educated at the R. R. Moton High School in Farmville. While attending school Wallace was drafted into the Army, where he served in the Vietnam War. Wallace had a passion for roofing; although he mastered construction work of any kind, he loved to tear down and replace roofs. Wallace commuted back and forth from Meherrin to Richmond, for years to work, until he got tired and decided to make a change and relocated to Richmond, VA. Wallace enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Those who knew him, knew that whenever you were in his presence, you would be greeted with a smile, and his contagious laugh. Wallace was proceeded in death by his parents, Earl and Dorothy Townsend and his granddaughter, Vaniyah Atkins.
He leaves to honor and cherish his memories are his children: Monica Childs, Richmond, VA; Troy Townsend (Tamara), Varina, VA; Tanisha Jenkins (Paul), Meherrin, VA; and Wallasha Townsend, Crewe, VA; a committed, devoted, and dedicated honorary son, Orlando Taylor (Angel), North Chesterfield, VA; Seven grandchil- dren: Joshua, Ashon, Harmoni, Jasmine, Jeanelle, Orlano, Jr., and O’Cari; eight siblings: Savannah Rice (John), Hampden Sydney, VA; Earl Townsend, Rice, VA; Vernard Townsend (Effie), Rice, VA; Marilyn Paige (James), North Chesterfield, VA; Theresa Walton (Elwood), and Wilma Townsend, Richmond, VA; Amanda Walker (Anthony), Mechanicsville, MD; Twanna Gray, North Chesterfield, VA; Two Aunts: Dorothy Fowlkes and Agnes Taylor; four uncles: Harvey Eggleston (Mary Alice); John Eggleston; Herman Eggleston (Claudette); Harold Eggleston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Wallace was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
