Obituary

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~ Matthew 11:8-30

His Story................

On Monday, July 24, 2023, Wallace Eugene Townsend fondly known as Bro. Wallace commuted back and forth from Meherrin to Richmond, for years to work, until he got tired and decided to make a change and relocated to Richmond, VA. Wallace enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Those who knew him, knew that whenever you were in his presence, you would be greeted with a smile, and his contagious laugh. Wallace was proceeded in death by his parents, Earl and Dorothy Townsend and his granddaughter, Vaniyah Atkins.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memories are his children: Monica Childs, Richmond, VA; Troy Townsend (Tamara), Varina, VA; Tanisha Jenkins (Paul), Meherrin, VA; and Wallasha Townsend, Crewe, VA; a committed, devoted, and dedicated honorary son, Orlando Taylor (Angel), North Chesterfield, VA; Seven grandchil- dren: Joshua, Ashon, Harmoni, Jasmine, Jeanelle, Orlano, Jr., and O’Cari; eight siblings: Savannah Rice (John), Hampden Sydney, VA; Earl Townsend, Rice, VA; Vernard Townsend (Effie), Rice, VA; Marilyn Paige (James), North Chesterfield, VA; Theresa Walton (Elwood), and Wilma Townsend, Richmond, VA; Amanda Walker (Anthony), Mechanicsville, MD; Twanna Gray, North Chesterfield, VA; Two Aunts: Dorothy Fowlkes and Agnes Taylor; four uncles: Harvey Eggleston (Mary Alice); John Eggleston; Herman Eggleston (Claudette); Harold Eggleston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
