"I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." John 14

On Wednesday July 28, 2021 our beloved father, William Leroy Redd affectionately called by those whom knew him as “Roy,” at the of age 72 departed this life. William was the son of the late Annie Mae Barksdale. At an early age, William was baptized and became a member of Forest Baptist Church in Meherrin, VA. He attended as often as he could until his health started to decline. Roy attended Benjamin N. Cordozo High School in Queens, New York. He served in the United States Army, in February 1977 and was honorably discharged. He worked as a custodian at Hampden Sydney College. In his free time he loved to go fishing, working on his cars, gardening and sitting on the porch enjoying the breeze. Roy loved and was loved by many. He was a great father, friend and confidant to many and will be truly missed.

Roy leaves to cherish his memories 4 daughters: Latasha Chambers, Lakeshia Chambers, Dawn McPhee & Tina Berkley; 3 sons: Montel Redd, David Hicks & Jeremy; 3 grandchildren (including one he loved as his own Zyonna Williams); a sister: Cassandra (Archie) Watkins; a brother: Ralph Dodson; his lifelong love Ola Chambers and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
